Fieldwork Report Overview
The Fieldwork Report is a one-click report which presents a modern Studio-based report that can be created and viewed for any survey. As a Professional user you can create the report either from within the Survey Designer survey list or from the survey's overview page. Once the report is generated, a quick link is available to launch the report in a new tab in your browser.
When you open the Fieldwork Report, the Overview page opens by default. This page displays key survey metrics including the number of respondents, response rate info, response rate over time, breakdown by channel, breakdown by device (desktop vs touch) and key drop off statistics.

You can icon in the upper-right corner of a chart (if it is available) and select export.

The report's key capabilities are:
- Monitor survey progress with visibility to key survey metrics.
- Quota progress.
- Frequency information via the Topline page.
- List of verbatim responses.
- Time-based report filtering.
This report is primarily intended for users conducting ad-hoc research, however this can be used for any survey. The report itself is based on a Studio template, which will evolve over time, and it includes all of the more research-centric widgets; for example the “dropOff” widget, the “quotas” widget and the “xtab” widget. It also uses some of the powerful selector capabilities to allow creation of templates that are not hard coded to variable names or survey IDs.
The report is available to Professional users at no additional charge, and the user does not need access to Studio to be able to view the report. This access will be extended to also allow assignment of end users. Companies that have access to Studio Designer will then be able to assign the report to end users.
The report contains a number of pages:
- Overview page – This page contains key survey metrics including response rate info, response rate over time, breakdown by channel, breakdown by device (desktop vs touch) and key drop off statistics.
- Quota page – Shows summary information of all quotas in your survey. As with Instant Analytics the quota widget data cannot be filtered, meaning it always display unfiltered quota summary details (go to Quotas for more information).
- Toplines page – Shows toplines for all non-system variables in the survey, with the ability to use up to three predefined banners. These banners are optional (go to Toplines for more information).
Crosstabs page – Ability to create your own Crosstabs to slice and dice the data as per your requirements. (go to Crosstabs Overview for more information).
- Comments page – Displays a comments widget for all non-system open text variables in the survey.
- Invitation delivery - Email Delivery Reporting Overview
You can export the raw data as an Excel file, you can export the report as a PDF file, and you can print the dashboard as PDF.
Note: The CDL template for the report is system-defined, so users cannot make changes to it. To create and edit a similar report, users will need access to Studio Designer.

If the survey is not yet linked to a hub then the hub selection overlay opens.
Figure 3 - The Select hub overlay
Here you can select an existing hub or create a new hub for this report.
For reporting, data is loaded continuously to a reporting database. There is one reporting database per hub, so assigning multiple surveys to the same reporting database/hub allows you to combine and join data from different surveys, and access shared assets such as end user lists so that an end user can have access to reports on different surveys through the same login. It also provides a logical way of grouping surveys and other assets that are part of the same MR/VoC/VoE program. Refer to the separate SmartHub documentation for further information on hubs.
or
The report is generated. Note that this may take some time depending on the volume of data to be processed.
Once the report has been generated, the menu option changes to Open Fieldwork Report.
Figure 4 - Opening the report
Note: If the survey has already been added to one Hub, when you create the Fieldwork report that Hub will be preselected regardless of whether or not you have access to the Hub. If you do not have access to that Hub but have any access to the survey, you will be able to create and access the Fieldwork report.
If the survey has already been added to multiple Hubs when you create the Fieldwork report, the first Hub will be selected by default. However you can choose another Hub, regardless of whether you have access to that Hub.
Filtering a Fieldwork Report
When you have added filters to your report, the report will display the Filter icon in the upper-left corner of the report page - (ringed below). Click this to open the Filters panel down the left side of the report, which lists all the filters you have available.

The filter criteria for that filter are presented.

The data is updated as you make your selections, so you can see immediately the results of the filter.
Exporting a Fieldwork Report
You have three methods of exporting the Fieldwork report:
- As from 14th January 2020 you can export the raw data from the Fieldwork report. The export functionality is available for any Fieldwork report created after this date; note that previously existing fieldwork reports will not automatically have the functionality added to them. The export is not configurable, and it comprises all survey data in in the upper-right corner of the report page. The Excel file is generated, zipped and placed in your Download folder, and a standard file access icon is presented across the lower edge of your screen. Note that the process may take some time depending on the complexity of your report.
- You can export the report pages as a PDF file. To initiate the export, click the Page PDF Export button in the upper-right corner of the report page. The PDF file is generated and a file-open icon is presented in the lower-left corner of your screen. Note that the process may take some time depending on the complexity of your report.
- You can print your dashboard to PDF file and send it to your printer. Click the Print dashboard to PDF button in the upper-right corner of the report page. The print file is generated and a standard Print options overlay opens allowing you to set up the output. Note that only the first page is printed.
