The filter parameters available for a column depend on the type of data presented in that column.
For example: A column that presents date/time information allows you to filter for a number of standard date/time values, and empty or non-empty values.

You also have a custom filter available, whereby you can input specific dates. Click into the From and/or To fields to open a calender and select the required values.

For a column containing open text data, for example a Name variable, the filter allows you to input a text string and select the type of match you want to look for.

Type the criteria into the Value field, and select the type of match you are looking for. You can select for an exact match, that the criteria you have typed is contained somewhere in the field, or that the field is or is not empty.
For a column containing categorical data (from single or multi questions), check the box(es) for the answers you wish to filter for and select the type of match you are looking for.
